Ever wondered where those square pixel graphics come from? QR codes, or 2D barcodes, seem to be everywhere lately – for example at CeBIT last week and even on billboards. I have just come across the website goqr.me, where you can generate these codes yourself.
You can use the iPhone app Barcoo to read the barcode. If, for example, you store a telephone number in the code and scan it with the app, you can call the number with one additional tap. That could be quite practical on a business card … This ease of use is probably one reason the codes are spreading so quickly.
