Spiegel Online today features one of the first reviews of the iPhone 5. Its verdict is “Apple’s gentle revolution”. Editor Matthias Kremp highlights many of the new iOS 6 features positively, including the new navigation software, panorama mode and new Siri capabilities. However, I assume that many of these improvements will also benefit owners of older iPhones.
Matthias Kremp was also able to test LTE on Telekom’s Hamburg network. His verdict – “Some websites appear on the screen almost instantly” – does not surprise me. This is where LTE’s significantly lower latency compared with UMTS/HSPA becomes noticeable. In addition, LTE cells are certainly nowhere near as heavily loaded yet.
My move from PC systems to my MacBook Air went smoothly, especially thanks to Parallels. However, I have missed the simple and fast fingerprint login I had on my Slate tablet PC.
