So it may be happening after all: “Mouse support for the iPad apparently in development,” reports Mac & i; see heise.de/mac-and-i/meldung/Mausunterstuetzung-fuers-iPad-in-Planung-4405839.html
Especially with the new iPad Pro and its support for external displays via USB-C, I think Apple needs to support pointing devices in iOS.
It would be brilliant if the iPad could be used as a touchpad while connected to a monitor. The touchscreen could additionally display a keyboard, or you could connect one via Bluetooth.
Without a pointing device, an external monitor on the iPad unfortunately makes only limited sense. Even so, I suspect there may not be much truth to this rumour and that iOS 13 will not really change anything in this respect.
