“O2 has clearly taken advantage of this opportunity and in 2012 is once again a serious contender for customers. In telephony, O2 even takes second place ahead of Vodafone. In […]
At last there is an official live video stream of an Apple event! Anyone who wants to watch today’s expected unveiling of the new iPad Mini live on video should simply follow this link. Until now, Apple had always prevented live streaming of its events.

Spiegel Online today features one of the first reviews of the iPhone 5. Its verdict is “Apple’s gentle revolution”. Editor Matthias Kremp highlights many of the new iOS 6 features positively, including the new navigation software, panorama mode and new Siri capabilities. However, I assume that many of these improvements will also benefit owners of older iPhones.
Matthias Kremp was also able to test LTE on Telekom’s Hamburg network. His verdict – “Some websites appear on the screen almost instantly” – does not surprise me. This is where LTE’s significantly lower latency compared with UMTS/HSPA becomes noticeable. In addition, LTE cells are certainly nowhere near as heavily loaded yet.
The Android Geeks blog has information suggesting that LTE versions of the Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet will be released in Germany later this year.
According to the report, the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE is due to appear in calendar week 40/2012, the first week of October.
Two weeks later, in calendar week 42, the Galaxy Note 2 LTE is expected to follow, with the Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE tablet scheduled to become available in Germany in calendar week 46.
It is not yet known which German LTE frequency bands the Galaxy devices will support.
