HowTo: Use a FritzBox 6810 LTE with Call & Surf Comfort via Funk

Anyone who wants to use a FritzBox 6810 LTE with Deutsche Telekom AG’s Call & Surf Comfort via Funk product may run into problems. DTAG officially supports only its own routers, sold under the name Speedport LTE, for the Call & Surf Comfort via Funk SIM card.

Setup is made more difficult by an outdated software version on the FritzBox 6810. The first units shipped still have FritzOS 5.22 (or 108.05.22). In this version there is no entry for Call & Surf Comfort via Funk under “Internet Provider”, found under “Internet > Account Information”. Only after updating to a newer FritzOS version does the corresponding Telekom option become available.

Even this configuration did not work for me, however. Only manually entering the access point (APN) resulted in a successful connection after about ten minutes. To do this, select “Other Internet Provider” under “Internet Provider” and enter “internet.home” as the APN, as also shown in the screenshot below.
