According to Telefónica Germany, 5G is initially important only for industry. The mass market will get it only in stadiums and at major events.

In my view, Telefónica/o2 is doing itself no favours with this assessment. According to rumours, the iPhone is expected to support 5G from 2020. And customers who then spend a lot of money on a new iPhone will want to see it using the latest mobile standard as well.
Instead, Telefónica should carry the momentum it is currently building in the expansion of its LTE network over into the 5G rollout – and communicate that clearly.
